چکیده

Several foods are available for the formulation of rations in Brazil; however, effectiveness a few these has been evaluated diets bullfrog tadpoles (Lithobates catesbeianus). This study aimed to evaluate alternative (worm meal, peeled banana, pumpkin, and avocado) with different levels crude protein ether extract nutrition obtain best animal performance water quality. In 60 days long experiment, total 480 (stage 25 Gosner table, 1960) an average weight 0.107 ± 0.004 g, were used. The experimental design was completely randomized (DIC) factorial scheme (2x2) four treatments [rations 320 g/kg (CP) 90 (EE); 380 CP EE; T3:320 110 EE] each consisting replicates. To verify normality data, results zootechnical performance, quality, proximate composition subjected Shapiro-Wilk Bartlett tests. Analysis variance (ANOVA) then performed, means compared using Duncan's test at 5% probability. verified not influenced by suggested diets. diet formulated based on easily acquired ingredients can offer EE bullfrog.

Effects of the organophosphorus pesticide Folisuper 600 (methyl parathion) on the heart function of bullfrog tadpoles, Lithobates catesbeianus (Shaw, 1802).

The aim of this work was to evaluate whether the heart function of bullfrog tadpoles (25 Gosner stage) is affected by their acute exposure (48 h) to a sub-lethal concentration (10 µg.L-1) of the active principle of the organophosphorus pesticide Folisuper 600R (methyl parathion - MP). Our results demonstrated that MP causes not only a reduction in tadpoles' cardiac ventricular mass, resulting i...

Genetic and biochemical effects induced by iron ore, Fe and Mn exposure in tadpoles of the bullfrog Lithobates catesbeianus.

For decades, the extraction of minerals has intensified in order to meet the demand of industry. Iron ore deposits are important sources of metals, such as iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn). The particulate ores can be dispersed during extraction, transport and storage, with potential to induce biological impacts. Amphibians are very sensitive to environmental stressors. Therefore, the present study...

Anti-proliferative effect of hibernating American bullfrog, Lithobates catesbeianus, blood plasma on the THP-1 cells

Hibernation is a remarkable process that allows an organism to go dormant for long periods of time during the winter, when food is scarce and living conditions can be lethal. Much is unknown about the physiology behind hibernation, and most research comes from mammalian models. For example, it is known that during hibernation many of the cells in the body are impeded from going though mitosis b...

Peptidomic analysis of skin secretions from the bullfrog Lithobates catesbeianus (Ranidae) identifies multiple peptides with potent insulin-releasing activity.

Using a combination of reversed-phase HPLC and electrospray mass spectrometry, peptidomic analysis of norepinephrine-stimulated skin secretions of the American bullfrog Lithobates catesbeianus Shaw, 1802 led to the identification and characterization of five newly described peptides (ranatuerin-1CBb, ranatuerin-2CBc, and -CBd, palustrin-2CBa, and temporin-CBf) together with seven peptides previ...

Autonomic regulation of heart rate during specific dynamic action associated with digestion in the bullfrog Lithobates catesbeianus

Feeding causes a substantial rise in the aerobic metabolism of all vertebrates, which is met by a rise in heart rate to secure adequate oxygen delivery, as well as intestinal nutrient absorption and transport between organs. To study the autonomic regulation of this postprandial tachycardia in an amphibian, we placed arterial catheters in individuals of the bullfrog, Lithobates catesbeianus (Sh...
